Teodulo Potosme
Teodulo has been making pottery for the past 29 years. He first learned
how to produce pottery from his mother and later attended the local
ceramics school in San Juan. He also studied under Gregorio
Bracamonte to learn some of the specialized techniques.
Teodulo has had his own workshop for 28 years and tends to focus on
traditional styles, but also works in geometrics and some modern
pottery styles. He says that his focus on traditional pottery designs is
driven by demand and the local market since many people are interested
in these designs. Over the years he has won several awards, including
first place in traditional pottery at the national contest in Managua in
1987 and first place in a number of local competitions in both
traditional and pre-Colombian designs.
