Lourdes learned her art from her mother and currently
operates a shop located along the main street of San Juan
along with her two children. She has been producing
pottery for the past 20 years and focuses on a wide range
of traditional designs. She has had her own workshop
for the past ten years and works alone with her son and
Lourdes is one of our featured women artists. The art of pottery
making in San Juan de Oriente was traditioally the work of the
women in the village who produced utilitarian pieces for daily use
and some decorative and ceremonial pottery. However, with the
recent trend of producing pottery as a local art form a number of
men have become involved and entire families operate local workshops.
Each purchased pottery art piece made by our featured artists includes our Certificate of Authenticity verifying that the item was produced and hand-selected from their workshop.
